History of Diplomatic Relations
The Principality of Monaco and the Republic of India officially established Diplomatic Relations on 21st September 2007.
H.E. Mr Rainier IMPERTI was appointed Ambassador of Monaco to India on 25 February 2008. He presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mrs Prathiba PATIL, President of the Republic of India on 16th May 2008 and finished his duties on 1st February 2009. She was succeeded by H.E. Mr Marco PICCININI and H.E. Mr Patrick MEDECIN.
H.E. Mr Patrick MEDECIN presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mrs Prathiba PATIL, President of the Republic of India, on 12 January 2012. He finished his duties in January 2022.
Mr Didier GAMERDINGER has been nominated by H.S.H. the Prince as the Principality's Ambassador to India. He presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of India, H.E. Mrs Droupadi MURMU, on 11th May 2023.
Reciprocally, H.E. Mr Ranjan MATHAI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India, presented his Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince on 5 March 2009. H.E. Mr MATHAI finished his duties on 24 July 2011.
He was succeeded by H.E. Mr Rakesh SOOD, H.E. Mr Arun Kumar SINGH and H.E. Mr Vinay Mohan KWATRA.
The current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India is H.E. Mr Jawed ASHRAF who presented his Letters of Credence on 26 November 2020.
History of Consular Relations
Consular Relations between the Principality and India have existed since 30 September 1954, the date on which Mr. R. CHATTARAM, Honorary Consul General in New Delhi, was appointed. Last Honorary Consul General of Monaco in New Delhi was Mr. Kushal Pal SINGH, who was appointed from 23 July 1990 to 30 January 2015.
India has no consular representation in Monaco.

Official visits to the Principality
May 21 to 22, 2018 : Visit of Shri Pon Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for Finance and Shipping, meeting with Mr. Jean Castellini, the Minister of Finance & Economy, and Mr. Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Cooperation.
November 4, 2014 : Visit of Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Rajnath Singhto attend an Interpol meeting.
July 31, 2012 : Shri S. S. Palanimanickam, Minister of State for Finance, to sign bilateral Agreement on exchange of tax information.
14 October 2010: Courtesy visit by the Indian Tourism Minister.
11 September 2009: Visit by Ambassador Ranjan MATHAI to discuss the forthcoming visit of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to India, and the possible signature of an agreement on the exchange of information on tax matters.
May 2003: A visit to the Principality by H.E. Mr Ravi Shankar, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting. This was essentially a touristic and cultural visit.
October 2000: A visit by Ms. Najma Heptulla, President of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Visit to India
From 1 to 6 October 2010: Visit of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
From 8 to 10 December, 2016: H.S.H. Princesse Charlene visit to Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
November 10, 2018 : Brief interaction between Prince Albert II and Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu in Paris during a cocktail hosted by the French President.
From 4 to 5 February, 2019 : Visit of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco paid an official visit to India with a high level delegation, call on President of India , Shri Ram Nath Kovind and meeting with Prime Minister Narendra MODI. Call on by External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj.
International Cooperation
31 July 2012: Visit by H.E. Mr PALANIMANICKAM, Indian Minister of State for Finance, for the signature of a TIEA agreement (Tax Information Exchange Agreement): Agreement concerning the exchange of tax information between the Principality of Monaco and India. Consult the agreement
India and Monaco enjoy cordial relations and the two countries have gradually developed their relations in various fields. Trade, tourisme and taxation matters are some of the leading areas of cooperation.
Tax agreements signed by Monaco are numerous.
